Fake Human Skin

Ever wonder what technology can do to fashion?
Or shall we say it's the unlimited creativeness of human mind that unleashes the oddness in the latest fashion world? To most of the ladies or self-proclaimed fashionista (in the fashion industry), the outfit created by a French company named SkinBag might give them a great shock or set them aback. Peculiar to most of the eye, the outfit created featured a common design so common that it is owned by everyone (never been so close) and yet it gives a quirky feel to those who set their eyes on it. The descriptions of this piece of outfit sounds like a riddle to you? You might frown for a second or two and even get startled by the answer when you were told the answer.

However, once the consumer understand the story behind the creation of these outfits - to decipher the true self of one's identity, they no longer refrained themselves from this of art. They have, nevertheless accepted this fusion (between digital and organic media) design and learned to love this fascinating design of Goulet.

Back to Basics - The Return of the Artisan

We live in a mass-produced world. With the ascendancy of chain store culture, individual style has become harder and harder to achieve. We are encouraged to be consumers, not producers, of our own culture.

In days gone by, most everyone possessed a craft by which to live by. However, when the industrial revolution steamed by in the early eighteen-hundreds, the call for individual craft was replaced by the driving force of mechanized production.

But now, when we as a society rely most on mass-production, the time of the artisan is on the rise again. A concept previously associated with poorly-knitted sweaters from grandma, handcrafted products have made a resounding appearance on the fashion market once more.

The movement is still fresh off the line, but already there has been a boom in popularity for handcrafted accessories. Bags, jewelry, hats, and scarves are just a few examples of items so popular that their creators hardly have time to complete the last stitch.

And it's no wonder, considering the benefits. A handcrafted item is not only one of a kind, but often much better quality than something one would find in your local department store. It possesses a human attention to detail that a machine cannot affect.

When you buy handcrafted, it has much broader positive effect in that you're supporting local and small businesses. By paying artists and craftspeople for their goods, you are supporting them and your own local economy. Also, the accumulating environmental effects of mass production are a major cause of global warming and the poisoning of our air, water and soil, so you would be doing your part for the environment as well in buying handcrafted.

Pioneers of the handcrafted movement include the website, Etsy.com, Nashelle, Maya Moon, Susan Shaw, oSo Accessories, and Lavish. Each of these companies promotes handcrafted, quality items that are easily accessible to the everyday consumer.

Etsy.com is an online marketplace for buying and selling all things handcrafted. In offering viable alternatives to mass-produced objects in the world marketplace, Etsy encourages consumers to be aware of the social and environmental implications of their purchases. Etsy was conceived by Rob Kalin in early 2005. Etsy now has 870,000 registered users, 160,000 of whom are individual artists selling more than 1.5 million of their handcrafted creations.

Other companies offer more specialized services in not just vending the handcrafted items, but designing and creating them. Maya Moon Designs offers handbags that are personally handcrafted with the quality leather and unique textiles. With a focus on durability and uniqueness, coupled with a passion for funky and adventurous fashion, Maya Moon bags are intended to reflect your personal fashion statement for years forward. Maya also gets it that function is essential in a handbag. Sturdy inside and outside pockets, high quality zippers and notions, and pattern design are all chosen for the marriage of functionality and flair.

Handcrafted jewelry is especially popular due to the available variety of design and materials that may be used. Nashelle Jewelry is an intimate company based in Bend, Oregon. Each piece created at Nashelle's is hand-made to order with the guarantee to never mass-produce or outsource.

Another handcrafted jewelry contributor is Susan Shaw Accessories. Susan Shaw designs the latest fashion trends with carefully selected glass beads and a growing collection of sterling silver, pewter and semi-precious stones. She then combines these to create her beautiful jewelry collections. Susan is also proud of her "Give-Back Program", whereby the company donates a portion of its proceeds to selected charities. The company plans on continuously expanding its "Give-Back" collections.

oSo Accessories is yet another budding company that specializes in hand-crafted jewelry. Their unique selection of semi-precious stones and luminous metals combine for a vibrant style of jewelry. Lavish Designs are similar to oSo Accessories in their use of fine wirework in their designs with not a single item mass-produced.

While the prices of handcrafted pieces may be slightly higher than that of their mass-produced cousins, take into consideration that you're paying for a quality and singular style unheard of in most commercial venues. It's going to last longer, and twenty-thousand other people won't have it. So the next time you set out to search for that perfect handbag, consider the benefits of buying handcrafted.

Hip Hop Fashion, A Very Fast Growing Field Of Fashion

Fashion Icon - Fashion Attracts Attention And More So If In Good Taste

What is a fashion icon, well it is a person who is looked upon by others as being most fashionable in the way they dress to impress and present themselves in the latest trendy designer gear. A fashion icon regardless of how they feel, will, 24 hours a day, dress up to the nines to uphold the title they have been labeled with. An avid follower of fashion will normally duplicate what their favorite celebrity is wearing, therefore, choosing to ignore what is more ideally suited to their own image and budget. Duplication in the form of replicating what your idol is wearing, should only be copied if the boot fits so as to speak i.e. shape and size

Example: A size 8 figure hugging frock may not look quite as good on the female frame - which measures up to a size 18.

In the UK - Victoria Beckham wife of David the famous footballer has been named the ultimate fashion icon - beating supermodel Kate Moss into second place, with pop rival Nicole Appleton taking the vote for third place. However personal preference in desired clothing and appeal may differ in opinion from different individuals on this ballot, there will be those who applaud Victoria Beckham being crowned a fashion icon, while on the other hand there will be those who oppose the result.

Without doubt - fashion icon Victoria is most profoundly stylish, trendy and chic dressed in expensive designer gear from Italy Paris London, but so is her pretty bank balance. Fashion traits of Mrs Beckham are very desirable to say the least, so desirable that women replicate themselves based upon her wardrobe with devastating consequences, i.e. debt.

They say money can not buy happiness, but it sure can put a smile on your face when it makes Prada and Versace designed garments more affordable. Former band member of the spice girls, Posh Spice (Victoria) has also had a taste of modeling - she went under the spotlight at the London Fashion Week wearing designs from one of her favourite designers Maria Grachvogel.

When following suit of others especially a fashion icon - you need to remember that whatever clothes you wear will always be considered as a second hand idea. In other words you are not the first to dress in the latest new chic designs because; your fashion icon has beaten you to it.

Put the shoe on the other foot. Fashion icons are no different to you and me; they too browse fashion magazines and shop in fashion boutiques for clothes to wear, so therefore this is an opportunity to turn the tables round in your favor. If you are of the creative type, then get out the sewing basket and start making your own creations. If you are not handy with a needle and cotton then find someone who is to help make - what it is - you have in mind.

Getting your ideas noticed by a fashion designer can be a difficult task, but do not let that deter you. Promote your own personal ideas to those who matter, by becoming a fashion icon in the eyes of friends and family. Fashion attracts attention and more so if it is in good taste where your personality shines through.

Fashion Icon - Fashion Attracts Attention And More So If In Good Taste

Look Fashionable At The Beach

Visit our sponsor: Dermitage

It’s that time of year when we pack up our bags and head to the beach for the day to enjoy those warm sunrays and the refreshing sound of the lapping water.

So what constitutes a good beach wardrobe. Well there are certain essentials that none of us forget. On goes the swimsuit and bathing suit cover, flip flops on our feet. Beach bag has been packed with the essentials – sunglasses, floppy hat, towel and a good book. Great – got the basics covered but what about the rest.

So if we are so prepared for a day at the beach, why is it by the time we get home we look pretty worn. Here are some helpful tips to make your day at the beach fun and keep you looking fashion fresh all day and all the way home.

First before you leave home, if you’ve got long hair pull it into a high pony tail or fun knot. Use some funky hair accessories that will stay in place when you’re swimming. Try a fun colored bobble or some firm fastening clips in bright summer colors. If you pull your hair up your neck will stay cool and you’ll look fresh all day with your neat hairdo.....

Second slather yourself in sunscreen before leaving the house, then toss the sunscreen in your bag so you can reapply after a swim or every few hours. A sunburn is not only unhealthy and painful, it’s unattractive, so don’t let yourself turn into the lobster of the day. Your sunscreen should be a SPF of 15. It doesn’t hurt to use a strong SPF on your face or your entire body if you burn easily.

Your beach bag should be large enough to hold your supplies for the day. Why not get something fun and fashionable to keep you looking fashion fresh. Make sure you’ve got all the daily essentials in your bag – sunglasses, sunscreen, a good book, a floppy hat, some lip gloss, and any other makeup touch ups you’ll want. If you plan to wear eye makeup make sure it’s waterproof. Stay away from heavy foundations. If you must apply something use a bronzer moisturizer. It’s also a good idea to bring lip balm with an SPF15 to protect your lips. It never hurts to put some moisturizer in the bag. Include a snack and plenty of fluids. It’s important not to get dehydrated.

Okay great we’ve got the basics covered now what about the wardrobe basics? If you’re planning to wear a swimsuit it’s usually easiest to put it on at home, that way you’re not chasing down change rooms. So great – first on goes the swimsuit. Now what to wear for a cover? Well you’ve got plenty of choices. A tank top and shorts, tank and skort, or a nice light cotton dress all work well over top. Choose something that’s easy to put on and take off, and choose fabrics that breathe to keep you cool. I also suggest including a long sleeved cotton blouse just incase you start to burn you can protect your shoulders and arms.

If you’re planning on heading out later in the day without returning home you might want to toss a pair of jeans or long skirt into your bag. If your outing is going to extend into the evening you’ll want to include a sweater for the cooler evening air. If you’re worried about your evening wear getting sandy or wet at the beach, then place them in a separate bag and leave them in the trunk of your car. That way you are guaranteed they’ll remain fresh.

My favorite beach look is this. And what’s perfect is it keeps me looking fashion fresh throughout the day and takes me right into the evening. First I like a swimsuit that’s got lots of support and is bright and cheerful. I throw a fitted tank on top and throw on a loose flouncy long skirt. The long skirt serves me through the evening and also works great to cover up if I’m starting to burn. I choose a lightweight material in a darker color with a pattern that accents the colors in my swimsuit. Flip flops are my footwear. Depending on where I’m heading after the beach I choose either a basic pair or one of my funky pair with rhinestones or crystals. Easy to walk in, feet breath, and terrific for an evening out. I keep a fitted light weight sweater in my car, and take a long sleeved cotton blouse down to the beach. I usually choose a long sleeved and long length blouse because it’s versatile. I can knot it to create a short blouse, wear it long as a beach cover, and put it on if I start to burn on my upper body. I usually choose white or a soft pastel depending on my other colors. I like white because it’s cool to wear and refreshing to look at. Every year I buy a fun new beach tote that’s big enough for the beach but not too big as to take it with me for an evening out. I like a fun bag that’s full of character.

Since I always feel naked without my jewelry I wear fashion jewelry to the beach. That way should I loose something I won’t be out a lot of money and I won’t feel so bad. I like to keep the earrings simple and elegant. I may or may not wear a necklace. Often I’ll toss a funky wood necklace in the bag to add to the evening outfit. I like to wear a couple of fashion rings just to add the finishing touches. Now if you’re fussy about tan lines you’ll probably want to forgo the rings. I toss my watch in the bottom of my bag so I can put it on later.

That’s it – simple is the key. Keep your beach wardrobe choices simple but fashionable. Think ahead so you can go from beach to an evening out without hassle. Remember to always make your fashion statement!

Fashion Tips: Dress to Look Young

Dress to look young? Well think about it, how are you normally dressed? How do you normally present yourself to others? Unknowingly, a lot of us have been wearing clothes that made us appear older than we actually are, especially due to the nature of our work.

To maintain a youthful look, a lot of women have invested heavily on skin care products. Many at times neglecting the very basic, the clothing they wore everyday, the way they are dressed. Some due to their profession didn’t even realize that all these while; they are actually dressing to look old! Anti-aging cream simply won’t just do magic to them.

To look young and pretty isn’t really that difficult. All you need is to spend a little time & effort, giving yourself a little touch up.

Tips:........

Try out a new hairstyle. Visit a hairdresser, they will be able to advise and styled your hair to suit you, bringing out that radiant in you.

If you are still wearing glasses, why not give it a try with contact lens? You can have excellent peripheral vision and at the same time, ease, comfort and convenience. Not forgetting to mention, a more youthful look. Don’t you love the way you naturally look without your glasses?

Put on some light makeup to help lift your face, bringing out that natural beauty in you. Do however avoid too heavy a makeup; a heavy eye makeup tends to add ages to the look.

Try out new styles; add a little color to your daily wear. Yes, appropriate dressing for work is important, especially when your job involves frequent meeting with clients. But still, that doesn’t mean that you have to stick to the same old boring dull clothing everyday. Well, as long as they are not too short, too tight, too revealing and too bright, you can still have fun with mixing and matching while maintaining your professional image.

For instance, instead of the usual dull black pants & skirt, you can also go for a Glencheck Pants, Ice Blue Cotton Flare Leg Pants, a Pink Stretch Twill Pencil Skirt, White Pleated knee Skirt…

Matching them with Yellow Stretch Corduroy Belted Blouse, Mint Chiffon V-neck Blouse, a White, Blue & Red Stripe Button Front Shirt… Perhaps even a Blue Dot Capsleeve Jersey Dress?

Many work place, has nonetheless also adopted the idea of a Casual Friday. A printed tee with faded stretch denim jean? Why Not? Well and of course not forgetting the weekends. A Sporty & Youthful look? It’s your weekend you call the shots!

Hmm… Save the best for the last? Well, there’s no need to wait for any special occasion to doll yourself up. You deserve to look your best everyday. Last but not least, put on a smile…

Top 10 Fashion Mistakes: What NOT to Wear

Image includes everything that is in your appearance – not simply how well you put your makeup on and style your hair, and not just how expensive is your bag, but also how well you put all these things together. Sometimes a tiny flaw can ruin the carefully concocted look. Don’t let that happen to you.

Fashion Mistake #1. Skirt too skimpy.

The skirt should not rise up to mid-thigh when you sit down. If you have to pull it down constantly then maybe it is too short or too tight. Make it a rule of thumb to keep the skirt for daytime attires maximum an inch above the knee.

Fashion Mistake #2. Silly, not cute.

Avoid frilly blouses when you don’t party. It’s a popular belief that a frilly blouse will make you look feminine and romantic; instead it makes you look unprofessional and frivolous. Choose a blouse in ivory or white – it goes well with everything.

Fashion Mistake #3. Bare legs in winter.

Leave it to chic Manhattan's in Sex And The City to show off bare legs with manolos when it’s about to snow. Sheer tights will look stylish enough and keep your assets warm and healthy. Splurge on Wolford tights for a special occasion.

Fashion Mistake #4. Too many accessories.

Keep accessories to a minimum. Button or hoop earrings are acceptable for a daytime look. For an evening, make one piece, e.g. chandelier earrings or embellished purse, a key element and keep the rest of accessories neutral. Hang on to simplicity with your watch: no cartoon characters or day-glo details are appropriate, unless it’s a Swatch.

Fashion Mistake #5. Neon, not neutral makeup.

Be clean and look polished. Make-up is a must in professional world, even if you never wear it. Blusher, mascara and clear powder are minimum. Use the foundation to conceal blemishes. The no-makeup look is fine for college, not for grown-up life. Avoid bright shimmery glosses or eye shadows unless you go out........

Fashion Mistake #6. Showing too much skin.

Especially between the low-rise jeans and top. If you absolutely need to show a bit of your belly make sure it’s tan, slender and depilated. No love handles with those sevens, please!

Fashion Mistake #7. Showing dark roots.

Be honest to yourself: you are no Carrie Bradshaw to look chic with black roots and blonde tips; besides, there was a team of hi-end stylists working on the set of SATC for hours to make those outgrown roots look appropriate. In real life, dark roots send a clear signal that you are either out of money or out of style.

Fashion Mistake #8. Revealing plain white (or black) bra straps and thongs

Some underwear just looks better inside. No matter how expensive your plain white sports bra is, keep it concealed. Unless, of course, it’s $150 pink Lejaby bra with straps of Belgian lace or bejewelled triangle at the crossing of the thong. Same applies to transparency level of your clothes: wear white or nude bra with white shirts and black/colored bras with black ones, and not vice versa.

Fashion Mistake #9. Wearing trousers too short.

It makes sense to have several pairs of jeans and pants of different length, ones for low heels and ones for higher heels. Wearing too long jeans with casual flat shoes or uggs result in stained and worn-out hems, and that’s another huge no-no!

Fashion Mistake #10. Looking too casual.

The inventors of Ugg boots could never imagine that the confines and anti-stylishness of these lovely shearling creations will inspire millions of girls to wear them with out-of-shape stained track pants, oversizes sweatshirts and messy ponytails. Uggs and ugg-alikes stand out much better if worn with pristine designer jeans, and track pants are just meant to be worn with equally chic running shoes. You can slouch up to a certain degree, and then you’ll look plain ridiculous.

5 Tips for a Great Fashion Fit

Ladies, have you ever been in a department store dressing room and talked yourself into buying an outfit that looked great – on someone else?

Face it. If it doesn’t fit right in the dressing room, it won’t fit well or look good when you wear it out in public. Here are five quick and easy tips to remember when buying clothes that look good and fit well on your body type.

Tip #1 – Stick to a Color Theme

Wear the same color from head to toe. This will create the illusion of a long lean line. Neutral colors work best for this effect: black, brown, camel or cream. (Note: add a splash of color with a jacket or wrap)

Tip #2 – Wear Your Correct Size

Dress in the size you are – not the size you want to be. In spite of what you might believe, wearing clothes that are too tight or too big will make you look LARGER.......

Tip #3 – Be Aware of Flattering Fabrics

You want to wear fabrics that skim your curves instead of cling to them. Fabrics should drape your body and make you look good, not lumpy.

Tip #4 – Best Pants to Wear

The most flattering pants to wear for all body types have a flat front, fall just below the navel (not hip huggers), and flare slightly at the bottom.

Tip #5 – Best Skirt to Wear

The most flattering skirts to wear for all body types gets a perfect grade of “A”. The A-line skirt looks good on everybody and is great for hiding figure flaws.

Nail Myths Exposed

They protect the ends of the fingers and toes from injury. They help you pick up things. They also come in handy when you have an itch that needs to be scratched.

Indeed, nails help us perform many tasks but they’re also the subject of many myths and misconceptions. Strange as it sounds, when it comes to nail care, a lot of people are in the dark and know more about Dr. Phil than they do about their very own nails!

To clear up whatever misconceptions you have about your nails, read the article below courtesy of Somasin AFS, nature’s answer to stubborn fungal nail infections that are difficult to treat. Somasin is made from a unique herbal blend that will restore your nail’s healthy shine and luster in just seven days.

Nail hardeners and gelatin will strengthen nails. False. Commercial nail hardeners do contain ingredients that strengthen the nails. But by doing so, they also make the nails less flexible and prone to break more easily. Since the nails take a lot of pressure in daily life from activities like housework, dish-washing, and gardening, they can benefit from moisturizers that contain petrolatum or mineral oil.

“The best way to grow strong nails is to make sure that they are kept moisturized. Because nails take a lot of abuse in daily life and are repeatedly exposed to harsh detergents and chemicals that can dry them out, it's important to keep them moisturized. Most nail polish removers are alcohol based, so it is especially important to moisturize after removing nail polish,” said Anthony J. Jannetti in “Nail care myths and facts” in the Third Age web site.

As for gelatin, it has no effect on nail growth and strength. This was an advertising campaign that began in the 1890s when Charles Knox created gelatin from leftover slaughterhouse waste. Knox claimed that this waste material would strengthen nails since cow’s hooves were strong. Unfortunately, it doesn’t so even if you eat a truckload of Jell-O, your nails will still become chapped and brittle if they’re constantly exposed to water. Wearing gloves makes more sense.

Push your cuticles back to help your nails grow. False. This is a bad idea since you can injure the cuticle and expose the nail to a host of problems including nasty bacterial and fungal infections. For your safety, don’t touch that cuticle!

"The cuticle is a barrier that protects the skin and the delicate nail matrix, or 'root' of the nail. Pushing back on the cuticle can injure it and expose the paronychium, or skin fold around the nail, to bacteria and result in infection,” said Dr. Marta VanBeek, assistant professor at the Department of Dermatology, University of Iowa College of Medicine in Iowa City.

Artificial nails are good for you. False. Another bad idea if you have brittle nails or recurrent fungal infections since they can worsen these conditions. When worn continuously, artificial nails can trap moisture, making them a perfect breeding ground for bacteria and fungi. They can also cause allergic reactions in some people.

“People with brittle nails should minimize the amount of trauma associated with removing or changing artificial nails. Chemicals used to dissolve the bond between artificial nails and the nail plate can dry out the nail and damage the nail if used too frequently. For people with healthy nails, artificial nails can be fine as long as they are not worn continuously," VanBeek said.

If you’re sick of fungal nail infections and are worried about expensive oral anti-fungal drugs and their side effects, try Somasin AFS, an all-natural herbal formula that will bring back your beautiful nails. Check out http://www.somasin.com for more information

Keep Up To Date With All The Latest Fashions

Fashion A Thing Of Beauty?

Keeping your finger on the pulse of the latest fashion designers in all the main shows in the world is not an easy job. Each year there are names who will become valued and long term members of the industry but there are many who will sink without trace. Below are a few of the names to look out for and whose labels will be valued for many years to come.

A la Disposition is literally shaping the fashion world with its amazing corsets. They are creating delicate shaping designs to produce a fit that is perfect for every body shape. The outer cloth will 'hug' the body while the stitching holds the fabric snugly. The combination of cut and structure from corsets of the past along with modern innovations of elegance, A la Disposition designs luxurious high fashion corsets. The corsets are made from the extraordinary weaves chosen from the best mills in Italy, England and France. Experienced needleworkers in A la Disposition's own workshops complete each corset. The only negative aspect to owning an A la Disposition creation is that your finest piece of clothing may never be seen by those who can appreciate its style and quality.

Anna Sui. This is a name that has already hit the headlines and looks as if it will be around for many years to come. Anna Sui began her career by dressing her dolls for her own Academy Awards but her passion for fashion grew as she matured and culminated in her own label. She calls her collection of fashion clippings her 'genius files'!

Her first order was from Macy's in 1980 and her overheads were kept down by working out of her own apartment. Ten years later she was ready to open her own boutique in NewYork and the Los Angeles one followed a few years later. The New York Times calls her the designer who 'never panders' and Anna continues to be an inspiration to both her fellow designers and to the entertainment industry.

In addition to underwear and outer wear, fashion also influences the accessories we use both personally and in our homes. One of the leading names in this area is Kate Spade who is absolutely at the cutting edge and has been since she started designing her own handbags whilst working on the Mademoiselle magazine.

With her own designs and money, Kate Spade produced her first line of classically shaped handbags with innovative colors and fabrics. Together with her husband, Kate Spade was able to officially launch 'Kate Spade Handbags' in 1993. After starting with just a few innocent sketches, Kate Spade has been honored by the fashion industry over and over again for excellence in designs and for specific products. Kate Spade is the ultimate for classic elegance in accessories.

How To Create The Perfect Wardrobe

Want to know the secret to creating a foolproof wardrobe? It's all about "buying less and spending more."

The ultimate goal is to build a wardrobe of clothes that suit you perfectly and that will mix and match easily to create innumerable outfits. It may take you several years to get there, but the result is absolutely worth it.

A perfect wardrobe should be made up of 60% Classic pieces 20% Basics and 20% Trend.

You probably already have a few classic pieces in your wardrobe. These are the items you paid more for but are made of high quality natural fibres and have seen you through several seasons. By purchasing classic pieces over a longer period of time, pairing them with good quality basics and keeping current with a few trend items, you will always look elegant and put together.

Begin by separating your clothing into piles of classics, basics and trend (If you notice anything that is worn, dirty or needs mending, place these in a separate pile).

Classics - The classics are good quality items like jackets, skirts and pants that fit you well, that look great and are still in great condition.

Basics - The basics are good quality t-shirts, stockings and lingerie etc. These are items that get a lot of wear and should be replaced every season or so. The more careful you are when washing and storing your basics, the longer they will last.

Trend - Finally you should be left with a pile of trend clothing. These could be current trends or those long since passed. While you may want to hang on to a few favourites, once the trend is over do you really have any need to keep them? Anything you decide to keep should be stored separately from the rest of your wardrobe.

Once this is done you can create a list of what classic items you need to complete your perfect wardrobe. Here are the top 10 staples of a classic wardrobe:

1. A good trench coat - this is a wardrobe essential. As with all your classic pieces, choose a neutral colour like black, chocolate, navy or beige.

2. Good quality knitwear - Go for natural fibre like 100% wool or cashmere. These are more expensive but much better quality and will last a lot longer. A classic V-neck style in a thin knit will get you through several seasons.

3. A cocktail dress - Look for classic style that flatters your body shape, for example a wrap dress which suits most figures. Remember, it doesn't necessarily have to be a "little black dress." If you don't like black or just want something more interesting, pick a dress in one of your best non-neutral colours.

4. A white shirt - a well cut white shirt with crisp collar and cuffs is always a great addition to any wardrobe. It is perfect for weekend and work wear.

5. A great pair of jeans - look for either a bootcut or straight leg style in a dark, even denim. Definitely no fading, embroidery or hemline detail. Always fit your widest area first, then it can just be a simple alteration to nip in the waist if it is too large.

6. An A-line skirt - A simple A-line skirt is very easy to wear and flattering on most body shapes.

7. Man-style pants - A great cut that skims over the hip area and creates a long leg line. Get a pair in black and beige.

8. Knee high boots - perfect for Autumn/Winter weather. Look for a soft chocolate leather in whatever heel height you are comfortable with.

9. A beige leather tote - always gorgeous, this will go with practically everything.

10. Anything else that suits your own personal style

Now that you have your wardrobe of classics, you can start to create 'clothing clusters.' This is a clever and easy way to build a versatile wardrobe of clothes. Once you get the idea of how clusters work, you'll be able to plan your wardrobe around them and give yourself lots of options.

A clothing cluster is a group of 5-12 pieces (classics and basics) that work in combination with each other. The basic guidelines are:

* Solids mix more easily than prints but prints can bridge the gap two completely different solids
* Choose classic styles with clean, simple lines
* Choose colours from your most flattering colour palette
* Choose styles that suit your shape and your clothing personality
* Invest in quality pieces that will last for many years

Go through your wardrobe and note down all the possible combinations you own and then try them on to make sure they really work. Maybe you could have a friend or your partner take a photo of you in each outfit you create so you can remember all the combinations you came up with.

Teaming classic pieces with good quality basics in your best colours will ensure you always look elegant and put together. Then simply adding a splash of the latest colour or trendy handbag will bring you right up to the minute.

Best of all, taking the time to plan your wardrobe means you'll no longer be tempted to waste money on impulse items that don't go with anything you own.

Womens Casual Clothing Fashion Tips

Whether you're considered a soccer mom chic or college dorm student comfort is always on the forefront of your mind, the trick to dressing in womens casual clothing everyday with style is to know how to keep from looking sloppy.

For those lucky enough to dress in womens casual clothes everyday, the challenges could be many, but a few larger ones are, how to build a core wardrobe of basics with enough variety to keep it from getting boring and how to match these varieties without looking like a slob.

Here are some tips to help women build their casual attire:

Buy your casual clothes the same way you would buy career clothes: always thinking about building your best womens casual attire wardrobe. For example, when choosing your casual wear for women, choose cohesive pieces and build them around basic styles. For casual clothing the best approach is three colors for the best mix-and-match wardrobe - khaki, denim, tan; black, khaki, white; etc.

And please don't forget about a great casual shoe because nothing kills a chics sporty casual attire like a pair of white running shoes. Stick with a pair of boots or sandals, etc. You probably won't get stopped by the "bad wardrobe police" with boots and they go with almost all casual clothing.

Use casual accessories and handbags -- especially when it comes to casual wear for women. No two worlds are more distant from one another than the classic look and womens casual attire. Please don't try to mix a gold and diamond watch with a sweatshirt unless you're Queen Latifah. Try to stay away from mixing styles.

Keep your casual clothes in good shape -- don't be lazy if they need to be ironed then iron them, if they need to be cleaned then clean them, you get the point.

Stay far away from womens casual wear cliches - like baggy sweats. Baggy sweats is for lounging around the house only and if you are certain no one will see you out of your standard casual clothes. Remember today you might have a reputation to up hold. Instead, opt for some in style womens attire, a great track suit that comes with a strong fitted look in fun colors and rich fabrics like velor or terry.

Don't get ridiculous or outrageous about casual attire for women. Remember it is just a style which can be fun and look good at the same time. So, if you're working in the garden or cleaning the house, then wear whatever works for you and leave your casual clothes for those right days.

How to Look Fashionable on a Budget

Everyone wants to look "in style", no matter if they work full time or stay at home. For many of us, keeping up with the trends, and updating our closets can get pretty expensive. Many times you hear women, especially new mothers, saying that they just don't have the extra money it takes to look fashionable. Even though money can be tight for any of us, mothers or not, looking your best does not have to break your bank account. Here are some easy tips for looking your best on a limited budget:

1) Look for catalogs online that offer "defered payment". The most popular ones out there today are Chadwicks, Newport News, Speigel, and Lerner. They don't always offer this, so register your email address with them, and very quickly you should start receiving invites from them to use their "90 day deferred billing option".

Use a debit card if you can, but make sure that whatever your total is, you start saving that amount NOW. For instance, 90 days, or 3 months, should give you plenty of time to save enough money to cover your costs. For instance, if you stopped spending $4.00 day on a gourmet coffee drink, multiply that by 5 ($20.00), multiply that by 4 ($100.00), and you could in reality spend $300.00 on a new wardrobe, and have the money to pay for it in those 3 months.

2) Organize your friends/coworkers and have a "clothes swap" party. All of us have things we don't wear anymore, or can't fit into. Instead of donating them to Goodwill, throw a girly party, include handbags, shoes, etc. You would be amazed how many really nice things your friends are willing to part with.

3) Visit Consignment Shops in Wealthy parts of town. The clothes that are for sale at these shops are usually high quality, sometimes "haute couture" clothing. The prices may be a little higher than a Goodwill store, but if you are looking for more "trendy" looks, this is the place to start.

4) eBay - where else can you shop for ANYTHING and EVERYTHING you could imagine? My favorite thing to do is go into an expensive boutique here in town, and find THE best pair of shoes that I HAVE to have. I take note of the brand/name/price, and then go home and see if they are listed on eBay. 9 times out of 10, they are and I can guarantee that they are cheaper on this site. If you have anything you want to sell on eBay, that money that you make selling your item, can sit in your PayPal account, and you can turn around and use it to buy your new "in style" item.

Hopefully the following tips have been able to help you see that you too can look fashionable even if you don't have an endless amount of cash to spend on your wardrobe. Happy Shopping!

An Old-Fashioned Christmas For Today

You can enjoy the simplicity and beauty of an old-fashioned Christmas. It can make Christmas less stressful and more enjoyable.

Do you want to have a Christmas full of joy, instead of a Christmas full of stress? Most people feel exactly the same way that you do, but instead they go through the Christmas season feeling stressed and tired.

You can have a joyful Christmas season. There are many different ways to make your Christmas season more fun and less stressful. The best thing that you can do is to try to simplify your Christmas. If you think about your favorite Christmases from your childhood, you probably remember more times of simple fun, rather than chaotic stress. You only have to plan and prepare to make this a Christmas that you can enjoy now.

Enjoying the simplicity and beauty of an old-fashioned Christmas can decrease your stress level and be very easy. You don't have to go back to no electricity to make your Christmas more old-fashioned and simple. You only have to choose some parts of that time that will make your Christmas more enjoyable. You can help fill your home with Christmas spirit simply by using your three senses.

* Pleasing to the Eye - What do you think of when you think of when you consider an old-fashioned Christmas? If you are like most people, candy canes, popcorn strands, and homemade Ginger cookies on the Christmas tree come to mind. Making a popcorn strand is very simple and it can be a fun, quality family project that your kids will love and enjoy making. Using cookies as a decoration may not be very functional, but you could just use the cookie cutters on your tree or use them as a napkin ring.

* Pleasing to the Ear - "Sleigh bells ring. Are you listening?" Adding sleigh bells to your home can help create a pleasant Christmas sound to the ears. If you don't have a reindeer out in the yard then hang them on your doorknob. This is a great way to welcome your holiday guests.

Hearing the squeals of laughter occurs quite frequently during the Christmas season. From opening presents to decorating your home, the holidays are a source of great fun and laughter for every member of the family. You may want to consider using toys for decorating your home.

* Pleasing to the Nose - Some of the favorite scents of the holidays include spices, baked goods, evergreen, and bayberry. You can find Christmas decorations that fit both your eyes and nose. For example, fir branches with a red bow would look beautiful above a doorway. Scented candles will look great in your windows. Cooking cookies also helps to add a delicious smell to your entire home.

Having an old-fashioned Christmas does not mean that you have to sacrifice your worldly goods. It simply means that you want to have a more simple, enjoyable Christmas, without many of the stresses. Isn't that what you desire?

The Return of London Fashion Week

Provisional dates for London's fashion week are 16-23 September 2007. Fashion weeks tend to be held several months before the season, which gives press and buyers a chance to preview designs in advance. The last London Fashion Week was a huge success, bringing more than £100 million worth of business to London. Expectation is high for the next event, which many hope will be just as successful.

What We Can Expect

It's the first fashion week since top stylist Isabella Blow died in May. As Blow kick-started the careers of both Philip Treacy and Alexander McQueen, we're expecting to see many tributes. Models such as Lily Cole, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Agyness Deyne are being lined up to sashay down the catwalk in the latest designs.

The last London Fashion Week in February 2007 was a huge success with £40 million worth of orders and a huge £24 million of media coverage. Following London Fashion Week will be London Fashion Weekend, which takes place at the Natural History Museum and offers visitors the opportunity to purchase designer clothes at sales prices.

Next Season Predictions

We're eagerly anticipating next season's trends. Will next summer prove to be the season for you to dust off your capri pants? Who knows!

The Designers

Luella Bartley will show her Spring/Summer 2008 collection at fashion week, which also coincides with the launch of her new flagship store in Mayfair. It’s unclear whether Vivienne Westwood is showing this year but if she does, we never fail to be impressed by the grand dame of fashion.

It was Marc Jacobs in February but who will be the talk of Fashion Week in September? Fashion week favourite Hussein Chalayan should be returning with a collection that promises a blend of simplicity and volume. There are also rumours that John Galliano is returning to London with another one of his spectacularly outlandish collections. Inspired by the French Revolution, one of his last shows featured a realistic-looking guillotine and so we’re can’t wait to see what he’ll do this time. Hot young designer Henry Holland is also one to look out for. His cheeky House of Holland label is guaranteed to raise a smile with bitchy slogan t-shirts and androgynous styling. Needless to say, we're expecting Julien McDonald to dazzle us with a glamourous Givenchy show.

The Fashion Industry and Model’s Health

Since the death of catwalk models Luisel Ramos and Ana Carolina Reston, fashion bosses have been under increasing pressure to ban size zero models. However, it's unclear whether they plan to do this at fashion week. However, the organisers of Madrid Fashion Week 2006 banned models with a Body Mass Index below 18 and pressure is mounting on London Fashion Week bosses to do the same.

The Independent Model Health Inquiry has also found it "profoundly inappropriate" that young girls should be portrayed as adult women on the catwalk and have called for them to be banned from fashion week. However, it is unclear whether they will be. Lily Cole, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell all modelled before their sixteenth birthday but should they have been allowed to?

Discover More about Fashion Week

If you’re eager for more news and gossip, stay tuned. We'll be at the shows in September, bringing you the hottest looks straight from the catwalk.
